Easter is Coming – Invite All to Come Unto the Prince of Peace

For the last few years, around Easter and Christmas, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has promoted wonderful initiatives in order to spread powerful messages around the world about our Savior, Jesus Christ. These messages are meant to take advantage of the wide-spread social media of our time – videos, images, memes, and other assets are created with the purpose of being shared through social media. Some components, like billboards and other signs, are created as well, and are displayed on buildings, vehicles, posters, and visitors’ centers.
If you’re reading this, you probably remember the first Easter initiative in 2014, which used the hashtag #BecauseOfHim. And just last year, the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD was focused on serving others. It’s success was greater than any other campaign in Church history.
And now, for this Easter season of 2017, the Church is focusing on a new campaign entitled “Prince of Peace.” Its focus is to invite all to come unto Christ and find the peace that comes from the teachings and the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As is the case with all the Church’s messages and initiatives, the main goal is to proclaim that Christ lives and loves us.
The Church’s official #PrinceOfPeace release for the initiative includes the following goals:
- Invite all to come unto Christ.
- Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace (see Isaiah 9:6).
- Share ways to find peace through the Savior.
The timing, as always, is perfect – with the campaign to go into full effect during the week leading up to Easter. The Church further explains the threefold initiative:
Invite all to come unto Christ
Starting March 31, there will be a 2:33-minute video on mormon.org that illustrates the role of Jesus Christ as the “Prince of Peace.” Watch it. Then invite others to do the same. The website itself is available in 29 languages, and the video will be available in 33 languages.
Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace
Then, during Holy Week (Palm Sunday, April 9, to Easter Sunday, April 16), take the time to learn about the eight principles of peace:
- God’s word
Visit the mormon.org website and social media sites each day to learn about each of the eight principles. One will be featured every day, along with a video telling an individual’s experience and how he or she found peace by living one of these principles.
Share ways to find peace through the Savior
Keep an eye out for the videos and other content on the mormon.org website or the Church’s social media pages. Take a look at what others are doing to share this wonderful message. And most importantly – be sure to share your own efforts and experience as you try to live as Christ lived. And please – don’t forget to include the hashtag #PrinceOfPeace!
